I am an aspiring economist with research interests in macroeconomics, macro finance, financial economics, economic development and growth, and poverty and inequality.I moved from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to the United States in 2021 to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Kansas. My research focuses on the interactions between financial markets and the macroeconomy. My job market paper examines how income risk during rare economic disasters, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, impacts wealth inequality. Using a Heterogeneous Agent New Keynesian (HANK) model, it evaluates the effectiveness of a government-subsidized index fund in enhancing market participation and improving risk sharing for low-income households in the US.Outside of academia, I enjoy reading mystery and fiction novels, painting and doodling, and traveling to new places.
